One of the smallest of the Avian races, Raptor-kin rarely top 3 feet tall. They have long winged arms, with speckled brown and white feathers. On both their feet and hands they have sharp talons able to tear enemies into shreds, while their hooked beak can be just as deadly.

Raptor-kin technically speak Birdsong, though few Raptor-kin will engage in long conversations in this ancient tongue. They prefer to remain silent, listening and learning. Because of their penchant to be quiet, they have developed a reputation for being dumb, when in fact the opposite is true. As a matter of record they are, on average, the most intelligent of the Avian races.

Raptor-kin are true carnivores and will eat only meat.

They prefer to consume mostly small rodents and fish, but won’t reject larger prey animals, as long as the food is prepared fresh (as in it is killed immediately before cooking and consuming it).

Though they can eat their food raw, many Raptor-kin find experimenting with new ways of cooking their foods to be an enjoyable hobby. Certainly more than one Raptor-kin has ventured out to the other realms of Layna in search of new spices with which to experiment.
