You commune with the surrounding settlement to gain information about recent goings-on. You learn information about the settlement you are in as though you had rolled a Knowledge (local) check with a result of 25. In addition you may roll a Survival check or a Knowledge (geography) check with a DC of 20, if you succeed you commit a rough map of the settlement to your memory. This includes the location of important landmarks and administrative buildings as well as local gathering spots such as a pub or church. You may also ask a single question of the settlement, the animus summoned does not deceive or trick but may offer only vague information as it has no regard for personal details. But it does have regard for details that are related to commerce and construction. For example, you may ask if a specific merchant by name passed through the town and the answer could be as straightforward as many merchants have passed through recently . But if you describe the merchant’s wagon and wares and ask with whom such a merchant did business you may get a more helpful answer.
