CASTING

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S, M/DF (a pumice stone)

EFFECT

Range touch

Target living creature touched

Duration 5 rounds

Saving Throw Fortitude partial; see text; Spell Resistance yes

Your touch increases the subject’s internal body temperature. When you cast this spell, waves of heat emanate from your hand. You must succeed on a melee touch attack to hit the target.

On the first round of the spell, the target feels uncomfortably warm but takes no damage. On subsequent rounds, the effects intensify. The following table describes the spell’s effects on most creatures as well as its effects on creatures with the cold subtype.

Each round’s effects are not cumulative.

Any cold intense enough to damage the creature negates fire damage from the spell on a point-for-point basis, but not the distracted, sickened, nauseated, or dazed effects. An affected target must attempt a Fortitude save each round at the beginning of its turn.

A successful save negates the distracted, sickened, nauseated, or dazed effect for that round and reduces the fire damage by half. This spell has no effect on creatures with the fire subtype and those immune to fire damage.
