This spell gives a shield the ability to deflect ranged touch spells. When the bearer of the shield is hit by such a spell, the attacker must re-roll his attack roll. If he hits again, the shield fails to protect its bearer and the attacker’s spell takes effect normally. If the re-rolled attack misses, the shield protects the bearer from all effects of the spell, and the bearer may choose 142 to deflect the spell onto any target within 30 ft. of him that he can see. The bearer must make his own ranged touch attack roll to hit the new target. If the target is hit, it suffers all the effects of the spell just as if the original caster had hit them, saves applicable (if any).
