DESCRIPTION

A forbidden tome is a vessel of knowledge useful to prometheans in their research. Only a promethean or another character with access to the forbidden knowledge class feature may utilize a forbidden tome.

A forbidden tome is often a tome in name only, they can come in a wide variety of shapes and functions; from a crystal ball that reveals eldritch secrets, a spyglass that shows secret messages on the walls, a book bound in human flesh filled with occult lore, and so on. The more powerful the forbidden tome, the more interesting and unique a form it takes.

When you meditate to prepare your veils for the day, you can study a forbidden tome. Doing so allows you to select one of your pieces of forbidden knowledge and treat it as if it were invested with additional essence for all purposes (+1 for least, +2 for lesser, +3 for greater). Forbidden knowledge that cannot be invested with essence does not benefit from a forbidden tome. You can utilize multiple forbidden tomes while preparing your veils, but only one of each type. A single piece of forbidden knowledge can only benefit from one forbidden tome at any time. The benefits of a forbidden tome last until the next time you meditate to shape your veils, and cannot be used to benefit another promethean during this time.
