DESCRIPTION

A bloodstone spider is activated as are all other figurines of wondrous power. When animated, a bloodstone spider acts in all ways like a tiny monstrous spider under the command of its possessor. Once per activation, the spider’s bite can affect the target with a charm monster spell rather than with the spider’s venom. A creature charmed in this manner acts as if
the owner of the bloodstone spider had charmed it. This charm effect persists as long as the bloodstone spider remains in spider form and remains in physical contact with the victim.

The owner can also animate the bloodstone spider as a large monstrous spider under his control. In this form, the bloodstone spider cannot use its charm monster ability, but it can create a vampiric touch effect once during that activation instead of injecting venom with a bite. Hit points drained by this ability are added to the bloodstone spider’s owner if he is within 30 feet, otherwise they are added to the bloodstone spider.

The item can be activated twice a week. In tiny monstrous spider form, it can remain active for a total of up to 8 hours per use. In large monstrous spider form it can remain active for up to one minute. When the allotted time has passed, or when the command word is spoken, the bloodstone spider once again becomes a tiny statuette.
