Circle Magic

You join your power with others to amplify the power of your magic.

Prerequisite(s) Able to cast 3rd level spells.

Benefit(s) You can combine your spellcasting with that of your allies. To create a spellcasting circle you must have a leader who can cast 5th level spells, each participant must have this feat, and each participant must cast the same type of spells (arcane, divine, psychic). The circle leader may include up to a number of participants equal to their highest level of spell they can cast. The spellcasters must be within 10 feet of another participant. Each participant must join for the entirety of the casting time and must contribute a spell slot to the power of the spell cast by the leader (see example below). The casting time of the spell increases to 1 hour per spell level or the spells casting time, whichever is higher. The spell cast by the leader is affected in the following ways by the participants spells chosen by the circle leader:

  • Increase the caster level of the spell cast by the circle leader by the level of the spell expended to a maximum of CL 40.
  • Apply metamagic feats known by the circle leader to the spell without increasing the spell’s level or casting time. Each spell level sacrificed by the participants equates to 1/2 a spell level for the metamagic feat level cost. The maximum effective spell level for this purpose is 20th.

For example, a circle of druids could come together to cast liveoak. The casting would take 6 hours because it is a 6th level spell, and the other participants could sacrifice a 2nd level spell to modify the liveoak with Extend Spell and two others could donate 3rd levels spells boosting the circle leader’s caster level for the spell from 11th to 17th meaning the druid grove would have a treant guardian for 34 hours instead of 11.
