Around the Corner (Combat)

Combat cards are light and can catch the air easily, though it takes some practice.

Prerequisite(s): Dex 17, Precise Shot.

Benefit: When making an attack, you can curve the attack of your combat card to attack creatures around corners so long as you have enough space for the card to maneuver. When creating the trajectory you need to count the squares of unimpeded movement the card would need to make to hit the target. Using those squares, you apply your range increment penalties if any. Next, you treat the card as a flying ‘creature’ it can turn 45 degrees each square of movement without any difficulty. If you need the card to make a 90 degree turn to hit the target, the attack suffers a -5 penalty and 5 extra feet of distance.

Combat Cards

Cost 40 gp; Weight 1 lb.; Damage 1d3 (small), 1d4 (medium); Critical x2; Type piercing

Range Increment 20 ft. (projectile); Category ranged; Proficiency exotic; Weapon Group thrown

A deck of combat cards holds 52 playing cards of steel, bone or wood. These cards are special in that they are sharpened for dealing damage, though still good for a playing card game.

These cards cannot be used as melee weapons. Although they are thrown weapons, combat cards are crafted as a set of 52 cards instead of individual cards. The cards are recoverable as normal thrown weapons.
