Breath Weapon (Su) The type of damage dealt by a primordial chimera’s breath weapon is determined by the color of the chimera’s hide: the breath weapon of a blue chimera deals electricity damage, that of a green chimera deals acid damage, that of a red chimera deals fire damage, and that of a white chimera deals cold damage.

Color Shift (Su) Whenever a spell deals acid, cold, electricity, or fire damage to a primordial chimera, the color of the chimera’s hide permanently changes, depending upon the type of damage dealt. The chimera’s hide becomes green (if acid damage was dealt), white (if cold damage was dealt), blue (if electricity damage was dealt), or red (if fire damage was dealt).

Shape Shift (Su) Whenever a spell requires a primordial chimera to make a saving throw, the shape of the chimera’s head permanently changes, depending upon the type of saving throw required. The chimera’s head reverts to normal (if the saving throw was a Fortitude save), becomes a lion’s head (if the saving throw was a Reflex save), or becomes a goat’s head (if the saving throw was a Will save). A primordial chimera with a lion head gains the grab special attack with its bite (granting it an additional +4 bonus on grapple maneuvers), but loses its breath weapon until its head reverts to normal. A primordial chimera with a goat head has a gore attack equivalent to its normal bite attack instead of having a bite attack and loses its breath weapon until its head reverts to normal.

A chimera is a a hybrid monster that combines the features of a dragon, a goat, and a lion. While the features of a common chimera are fixed, those of primordial chimeras change in response to spells affecting the chimera. The primordial chimera’s dragon-like, goat-like, and lion-like features shift, disappear, or reappear in response to the nature of the latest spell to affect the primordial chimera.
