Soul Gun

While many gunslingers choose the conventional and hard to care for early firearms, the Soul Gun uses his spirit to channel blasts of pure energy at their enemies.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the soul gun.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

A soul gun is proficient with all simple weapons, the rapier, scimitar, shortsword, and sword cane. They are only proficient with light armor, light shields, and bucklers.

Spirit Gun (Su)

A soul gun receives a blast of energy they can manifest similar to that of a firearm. This blast is a 40 foot ranged attack, however attacks made up within 20 feet are resolved at touch AC instead of normal AC, and deals damage as appropriate to their energy specialization.

Energy Specialization

When the soul gun receives this class ability they must choose a single energy type. Their spirit gun deals the damage type chosen based on their element. Once chosen this cannot be changed later. Unless Æther is chosen, the spirit gun is affected by spell resistance as normal.

  • Fire: fire damage
  • Water: cold damage
  • Earth: acid damage
  • Air: electrcity damage
  • Æther: bludgeoning damage

Mark Target (Ex)

As a standard action the soul gun can mark a target within 30 feet of them and within their line of sight for their next attack. If they make an attack against the target on their next turn they receive a bonus to the attack and damage rolls equal to their Charisma modifier.

Speak with Spirits (Sp)

At 3rd level the soul gun is able to cast Speak with Dead, using their soul gun level as their caster level. This can be done once per day at 3rd level and increase the uses per day every 3 levels thereafter. At 9th level it can instead be cast as Speak with Soul by spending two uses.

Blast Technique

At 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter the spirit gun learns a new method of altering and shaping their blast.

Split Blasts: As a full-round action the soul gun can split their blasts, making twice as many attack rolls as they can potentially make on a full-round attack but only dealing half damage on their attacks. These additional attacks beyond their standard attacks cannot target the same individual.

Charging Blast: The soul gun can spend a full round action in order to absorb spiritual power within themselves. For a number of rounds thereafter equal to 3 + the spirit gun’s Charisma modifier (if any) they add an additional 1d6 points of damage to their spirit gun. This increases by 1d6 for every 3 levels they are past 4th level.

Sentinel Shot: The soul gun increases the range of their spirit gun by 20 feet, and this also increases the range of their touch attack with their spirit gun by 20 feet (60 foot range, 40 foot touch attack range).

Spirit Storm: The soul gun can spend a full-round action to create a 20 foot radius, and the range in which the radius can be centered out to is as per a spell’s Close range (25 feet plus 5 feet per 2 levels). Those within the radius must make a Reflex Save (DC 10 + 1/2 soul gun’s level + soul gun’s Charisma modifier) or take your spirit gun’s damage, or take half damage on a miss.
