Soldier of Gaia

Every war needs soldiers. Most people don’t know it, but a war rages every day between the forces of the natural world and those that would defile and destroy it. Whether these enemies be the obscene monstrosities of other planes or the foulness known as “civilization”, Gaia calls upon a few mortal emissaries to serve as her warriors in this fight.

The soldier of Gaia is an archetype of the warpriest class.

Spellcasting

This functions as the standard warpriest’s spellcasting ability, except that the soldier of Gaia casts divine spells drawn from the druid spell list rather than the cleric spell list. Druid spells of 7th level and above are not on the soldier of Gaia’s class spell list, and a soldier of Gaia cannot use spell completion or spell trigger magic items (without making a successful Use Magic Device check) of druid spells of 7th level or higher.

Spontaneous Casting

A soldier of Gaia can expend any prepared spell of 1st level or higher to cast a summon nature’s ally spell of that level or lower. This replaces the standard warpriest’s spontaneous casting ability.

Blessings

At least one of a soldier of Gaia’s blessings must be drawn from the following list: Air, Animal, Earth, Fire, Plant, Water, or Weather. The soldier of Gaia cannot worship a deity that does not offer at least one of those blessings.

Friend of the Forest (Sp)

At 7th level, once per day, a soldier of Gaia can call upon her connection with nature to receive aid from the natural world. This functions as a black tentacles spell with a caster level equal to the soldier of Gaia’s level, except that the tentacles take the form of massive green vines. Dealing at least 10 points of fire damage to a
grappled creature ends the grapple for that creature and an area fire effect that deals at least 10 points of damage ends the effect within that area.

A soldier of Gaia can use this ability twice per day at 13th level and three times per day at 19th level. This ability replaces sacred armor.

This ability replaces sacred armor.
