Spectral Terror

Rather than seeking the aid of dark gods and fiends, a spectral terror forms an evil alliance with a spirit that refuses to accept its death. Some seek out a suitable lost soul, while others are tragically drawn into the path of evil by the temptations of a loved one twisted by death. A few particularly malevolent antipaladins even deliberately create a tormented spirit to serve as their minion.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

A spectral terror is proficient with all simple weapons, kukris, saps, and scythes, as well as with light armor.

This modifies weapon and armor proficiencies.

Phantom (Su)

At 1st level, a spectral terror gains the spiritualist’s phantom and etheric tether class features. This minor phantom doesn’t yet have the link or share spells abilities, and has only a single slam attack. In ectoplasmic form, it has no DR and can’t use the phase lurch ability. The phantom’s emotional focus cannot represent a positive emotion (such as kindness), though it can be neutral (such as dedication or whimsy).

At 5th level, the phantom grows to full power, gaining all the normal abilities of a 5th-level spiritualist’s phantom (including those mentioned above).

If the spectral terror already has a phantom from another class, her class levels stack for the purpose of determining the phantom’s abilities. If she has the phantom animal or ghost mount class features, she doesn’t gain a phantom, but her spectral terror levels stack with levels in the class that granted her phantom animal or ghost mount for the purpose of determining its abilities.

This replaces the use of smite good gained at 1st level and fiendish boon.

Corrupting Spirit (Su)

At 2nd level, a spectral terror grants the touch of corruption class feature to her phantom rather than gaining it herself. The damage dice are d4s rather than d6s.

This replaces touch of corruption.

Bonded Senses (Su)

At 3rd level, a spectral terror gains the bonded senses class feature.

This replaces plague bringer.

Betrayal Feats

At 4th level, and every 6 levels thereafter, the spectral terror gains a betrayal feat for which she qualifies as a bonus feat. Her phantom gains the same betrayal feats, even if it doesn’t meet the prerequisites.

This replaces the uses of smite good gained at 4th, 10th and 16th level.

Shared Consciousness (Su)

At 4th level, a spectral terror gains the shared consciousness class feature.

This replaces channel negative energy.

Phantom Harbinger (Su)

A spectral terror grants her auras to her manifested phantom, rather than gaining them herself. While the phantom is harboured in her consciousness, she gains the benefit of these auras as normal. The spectral terror is never impeded by her phantom’s auras.

This modifies aura of cowardice, aura of despair, aura of vengeance, aura of sin, and aura of depravity.

Phantom Recall (Sp)

At 7th level, as either a swift or an immediate action, a spectral terror can call her manifested phantom to her side or back into her consciousness. This ability functions as dimension door, using the spectral terror’s class level as the caster level. When the spectral terror calls the phantom in this way, the phantom appears adjacent to the spectral terror (or as close as possible, if all adjacent spaces are occupied).

She can use this ability once per day, plus one additional time at 13th and 19th levels.

This replaces the uses of smite good gained at 7th, 13th and 19th levels.
