Ultears are named for the powerful mage-turned-s-class time thief who founded the practice. They blend their ability to manipulate motes of time with arcane magic, manifesting time as deadly, luminous motes fast time and freezing motes of slow time.

Luminous Motes (Su)

An ultear can speed up her motes of time, transforming them into piercing light that can be directed at her enemies. As a standard action, the ultear casts magic missile, spending 1 mote of time per missile she launches at a target.

Beginning at 6th level, the ultear can spend 1 additional mote when using luminous motes to empower her magic missile, dealing 50% more damage with each missile.

Beginning at 10th level, the ultear can spend 2 additional motes when using luminous motes to magically age her enemies. When a living creature takes damage from a missile, that creature also takes 2 points of Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution damage or 2 points of Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma damage (your choice).

A Fortitude save DC 11 + the ultear’s Charisma modifier negates the ability damage. Ageless or immortal creatures are immune to this effect.

Beginning at 14th level, the ultear can spend 3 additional motes when using luminous motes to cast magic missile as a swift action, as though quickened with Quicken Spell.

Beginning at 18th level, the ultear can spend 1 aevum to cast meteor swarm instead.

This ability alters motes of time and replaces the temporal talents gained at 6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level.

Freezing Motes (Su)

At 5th level, an ultear must select the shatter time aevum. She can now slow the motes of time surrounding creatures into freezing motes. As a standard action, the ultear spends 1 mote of time to cast frigid touch, which deals 4d6 points of cold damage with a touch attack and causes the target to be staggered for 1 round. If the attack is a critical hit, the target is staggered for 1 minute instead. This ability can be improved in the same way luminous motes can at 6th, 10th, and 14th level.

Beginning at 11th level, the ultear can spend 1 aevum up to 3 total times per day to cast the spell targeting each creature in a 30-ft.-radius burst within medium range (100 ft. + 10 ft. per level). Targets that fail a Fortitude saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 the s-class time thief’s level + her Charisma modifier) suffer 1d6 cold damage for every 3 s-class time thief levels the s-class time thief possesses and are staggered for 1 minute. On a successful Fortitude save, they take half damage and are staggered for 1 round instead.
