Ruffians S-Class Slayer Guild

The ruffians began recruiting s-class slayers to give them a modicum of diplomacy among the other guilds. When the opportunity presents itself, these slayers are just as cutthroat as any other ruffian.

Class Skills

The slayer gains Diplomacy, Knowledge (nobility), and Linguistics as class skills, but does not gain Knowledge (dungeoneering), Knowledge (geography), or Survival as class skills.

Street Stalker (Ex)

At 1st level, the slayer selects the Acrobatics, Climb, or Knowledge (local) skill. Once selected, this cannot be changed. When in urban environments, the cutthroat adds 1/2 her slayer level (minimum 1) to checks attempted with this skill.

Opportune Target (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 2nd level, the slayer who catches a foe by surprise can quickly study that foe to find its weaknesses. If the slayer can act in the surprise round, once during that surprise round she can study a foe as a free action (instead of a move action) and select it as her studied target.

Debilitation Training* (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 3rd level, the slayer chooses poison use or slowing strike. She gains the other option at 11th level, or she can select it as a slayer talent.

  • Poison Use: The slayer becomes trained in the use of poison, and cannot accidentally poison herself when applying poison to a weapon.
  • Slowing Strike: An opponent damaged by the slayer‘s sneak attack has its speed halved for 1d4 rounds. A successful Fortitude saving throw negates this effect. Against creatures with multiple types of movement, the slayer must choose which movement type to affect. If the slayer affects a creature’s flight movement, its maneuverability is reduced by one step; if it’s airborne at the time, it falls unless it succeeds at a DC 10 Fly check. If the slayer targets a creature already affected by this ability, its speed and maneuverability are not further reduced; the slayer may either extend the duration of that effect by 1d4 rounds or choose another movement type to affect (keeping track of the duration of each affected movement separately).

Surprise Attack (Ex) [Guild Talent]

Starting at 5th level, opponents are always considered flat-footed to the slayer during a surprise round, even if they have already acted.

Stab and Grab (Ex)

At 6th level, as a swift action the slayer can attempt a steal combat maneuver against a dead or unconscious target or a studied target she has just confirmed a critical hit against. A dead or unconscious opponent takes a –10 penalty to its CMD against this maneuver.

Fast Stealth (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 7th level, the slayer can move at full speed using the Stealth skill without penalty.

Terrain Mastery (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 9th level, the slayer may select a favored terrain: Cold, desert, forest, jungle, mountain, plains, planes (pick one), swamp, underground, urban, or water. She gains a +2 bonus on initiative checks and Knowledge (geography), Perception, Stealth, and Survival skill checks when she is in this terrain. When traveling through her favored terrain, the slayer normally leaves no trail and cannot be tracked (though she may leave a trail if she so chooses).

Decisive Victory (Ex) [Guild Advanced Talent]

At 13th level, the slayer chooses assassinate or knockout blow. She gains the other option at 19th level, or she can select it as an advanced slayer talent.

  • Assassinate*: The slayer can kill foes that are unable to defend themselves. To attempt to assassinate a target, the slayer must first study her target for 1 round as a standard action. On the following round, if the slayer makes a sneak attack against the target and that target is denied its Dexterity bonus to AC, the sneak attack has the additional effect of possibly killing the target. This attempt automatically fails if the target recognizes the slayer as an enemy. If the sneak attack is successful, the target must attempt a Fortitude saving throw. If the target fails this save, it dies; otherwise, the target takes the sneak attack damage as normal and is then immune to that slayer’s assassinate ability for 24 hours.
  • Knock-Out Blow: Once per day, the slayer can forgo her sneak attack damage to attempt to knock out an opponent. She must declare the use of knock-out blow before she makes the attack. If the attack hits, it does normal damage, but instead of dealing sneak attack damage (and instead of any effect that triggers when the rogue deals sneak attack damage), the target falls unconscious for 1d4 rounds. A successful Fortitude save reduces this effect to staggered for 1 round.

Slayer Camouflage (Ex) [Guild Advanced Talent]

At 15th level, the slayer can use the Stealth skill to hide in any of her favored terrains, even if the terrain doesn’t grant cover or concealment.

Opportunist [Guild Advanced Talent]

At 17th level, once per round, the slayer can make an attack of opportunity against an opponent who has just been struck for damage in melee by another character. This attack counts as an attack of opportunity for that round. Even if she has the Combat Reflexes feat, the slayer can’t use opportunist more than once per round.
