Explorer’s League S-Class Slayer Guild

S-class slayers who join the ranks of the Explorer’s League are guerrillas; masterful tacticians who prefer to deal with a situation using subtlety and decisive action. They lay traps for their enemies and wait in hiding to ambush them to minimize friendly casualties.

The DC for any effect created by a guild feature or talent is 10 + 1/2 of the slayer’s level + her Intelligence modifier

Strike First, Strike Last (Ex)

The slayer adds half her level on Stealth checks when remaining motionless and reduces the penalty on Stealth checks when sniping by an equal amount. She also gains this bonus on her initiative checks in surprise rounds whenever she is aware of the surprise round and at least one enemy is unaware.

Surprise Attack (Ex) [Guild Talent]

Starting at 2nd level, opponents are always considered flat-footed to the slayer during a surprise round, even if they have already acted.

Powerful Sneak (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 3rd level, whenever the slayer takes a full attack action, she can elect to take a –2 penalty on all attack rolls until the start of her next turn. If an attack during this time is a sneak attack, she treats all 1s on the sneak attack damage dice as 2s.

Fast Stealth (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 5th level, the slayer can move at full speed using the Stealth skill without penalty.

Trap (Ex)

At 5th level, the slayer learns how to create a snare trap and one other ranger trap of her choice.

At 7th level and every two levels thereafter, she learns another trap. The slayer can use these traps a total number of times per day equal to 1/2 her slayer level + her Intelligence modifier. Once a trap is learned, it can’t be unlearned and replaced with a different type of trap. The slayer cannot select an individual trap more than once.

Quick Start (Ex)

At 6th level, the slayer can take a normal charge action during the surprise round, rather than a charge with half the usual distance.

Rogue Crawl (Ex) [Guild Talent]

Beginning at 7th level, the slayer can move at half speed while prone, and she can take a 5-foot step while crawling.

This movement provokes attacks of opportunity as normal.

Deadly Range (Ex) [Guild Talent]

At 9th level, the slayer1 increases the range at which she can deal sneak attack damage by 10 feet.

Launch Trap

At 10th level, the slayer can affix a magical ranger trap to an arrow, crossbow bolt, or thrown weapon, allowing her to set the trap remotely or use it as a direct attack. Attaching the trap to the projectile is part of the full-round action of creating a new trap. The trapped projectile is fired or thrown in the normal manner. If fired at a square, the trap is treated as if the ranger had set the trap in that square, except the DC is 5 lower than normal. If fired at a creature, the target takes damage from the ranged weapon and is treated as if it had triggered the trap (saving throw applies, if any). The attack has a maximum range of 60 feet, and range increments apply to the attack roll. The duration of the trapped projectile starts from when it is created, not from when it is used.

Deadly Sneak (Ex) [Guild Advanced Talent]

At 13th level, whenever the slayer uses powerful sneak, she treats all 1s and 2s on the sneak attack damage dice as 3s.

Astonishing Strike (Ex)

At 14th level, when the slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target of her studied target ability during the surprise round, that target is denied its Dexterity bonus to AC against attacks from the same slayer until the end of the slayer’s next turn. When the slayer reaches 19th level, this ability works any time she deals sneak attack damage to a target of her studied target ability during the first round of combat, whether or not it’s a surprise round.

Crippling Strike* (Ex) [Guild Advanced Talent]

At 15th level, An opponent damaged by one of the slayer’s sneak attacks also takes 2 points of Strength damage.

Hunter’s Surprise [Guild Advanced Talent]

At 17th level, once per day, the slayer can designate a single enemy she is adjacent to as her prey. Until the end of her next turn, she can add her sneak attack damage to all attacks made against her prey, even if she is not flanking it or it is not flat-footed.
