Infernal

Alignment: Lawful Evil

Devotion: A warlock with an infernal patron may add +1 spell known from the warlock spell list. This spell must be at least one level below the highest spell level the warlock can cast, and must deal hit point or ability damage.

Pact: The devils of hell subjugate the weak and torture those beneath them and by seeking infernal power you are admitting that you are worthy of torment yourself. To prove your obedience and commitment to order, your ability to defend yourself from enemies that have fairly gained an upperhand on you has been hampered. If you begin your turn grappled by an enemy you may take no action that turn. Additionally whenever you fail a save against an enemy’s spell with a duration longer than instantaneous, the duration it effects you is doubled.

To aid in your torment of your enemies, a warlock with an infernal patron gains tormenting spell slots. The number of spell slots of each spell level is equal to the number of spell slots granted to the warlock based on their level (though they are not modified by a higher ability score). These spell slots are in addition to the normal spell slots granted to the warlock. Warlocks may only cast spells that deal damage or ability damage and have a duration of instantaneous using a tormenting spell slot. They are otherwise cast as normal including metamagic effects. Tormenting spells’ duration is changed to 3 rounds and deal half damage or ability damage (if a save would reduce the damage to half, it reduces it to one quarter instead). At the beginning of your turn each creature subject to a tormenting spell takes damage from that spell again. If the spell has an effect other than damage or ability damage, those effects take place when the spell is cast but not on subsequent rounds. If the spell allows a save, a new save is made each round to determine effects. If a spell requires a successful attack, the attack is only made when the spell is cast and it’s result is used for each round.

Manifestations

Warlocks with an infernal patron gain the following manifestations at the listed levels.

Hex: At 1st level, the warlock gains access to a witch hex. She may only choose blight, cackle, evil eye, or misfortune. The save DC to resist a hex is equal to 10 + 1/2 the warlock’s level + the warlock’s Intelligence modifier. This counts as having the hex class feature.

Affliction (Su): At 4th level, at the beginning of the warlock’s turn, each enemy subject to a warlock’s tormenting spell or hex takes 1d6 damage for each such effect afflicting them.

Eternal Torment (Su): At 8th level, as a standard action, the warlock may extend the duration of tormenting spells and hexes effecting all enemies within 30 ft. by 1 round.

Major Hex: At 12th level, the warlock gains access to an additional hex. In addition to those available at 1st level, the warlock may choose agony, nightmares, or retribution. This counts as having the major hex class feature.

Infectious Guilt (Su): At 16th level, whenever an enemy under the effects of a hex or tormenting spell dies, as an immediate action, the warlock may attempt to transfer the remaining duration of those effects onto another enemy within 30ft. of the dying enemy. The new target must succeed on a Will save whose DC is equal to 10 + 1/2 the warlock’s level + the warlock’s Intelligence modifier or be subject to all hexes and tormenting spells remaining on the dying creature.

Fiendish Blessings

Warlocks with an infernal patron may select from among the following fiendish blessings. The DC to save against these blessings is equal to 10 + 1/2 the warlock’s level + the warlock’s Intelligence modifier. Whenever a warlock would gain a feat, they may instead select a fiendish blessing they qualify for.

Corrupting Ray (Su): The warlock can unleash a corrupting ray as a standard action, targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. This ray deals 1d6 points of damage + 1d6 for each hex and tormenting spell afflicting your target. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.

Expanded Torment: Once per day, the warlock can cast a tormenting spell without using a spell slot. This spell can be of any spell level below the highest level of spell the warlock can cast. At 10th level, she may use this ability twice per day. A warlock must be at least 4th level before selecting this blessing.

Forbidden Knowledge (Su): The warlock has delved into the secrets of magic beyond what their patron teaches. Select a single spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list that is at least 2 levels lower than your highest-level spell known. You can prepare and cast this spell as an arcane spell. Casting the spell uses up a spell slot 1 level higher than the spell’s level. Your caster level is equal to your warlock level, and your save DCs and concentration checks are Charisma-based. You’re considered to have this spell on your spell list for purposes of prerequisites, spell completion items, and spell trigger items. You may select this blessing more than once. Each time, it grants you access to another spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list. A warlock must be at least 6th level before selecting this blessing.

Infernal Intellect (Ex): The warlock’s Intelligence score permanently increases by 2 points. A warlock must be at least 20th level before selecting this blessing.

Infernal Tutor (Ex): The warlock gains the aid of an infernal familiar. The warlock must choose a tripurasura, imp, imp consular, augur, oni spirit, or raktavarna for their familiar. Her warlock levels stack with any wizard levels she possesses for determining the powers and abilities of her familiar.

Metamagian: The warlock gains a metamagic feat as a bonus feat. The warlock must still meet all prerequisites for the bonus feat. A warlock may take this feat multiple times.

Not Your Day (Su): Whenever an enemy fails a save against one of the warlock’s tormenting spells, as a swift action, the warlock may use a hex against the target. The enemy must be a legal target for the hex and is allowed a save as normal. A warlock must be at least 10th level before selecting this blessing.

Split Hex: The warlock gains split hex as a bonus feat. A warlock must be at least 10th level before selecting this blessing.

Tormenting Focus: The warlock gains spell focus as a bonus feat. Instead of choosing an arcane school, the warlock’s spell focus applies to all her tormenting spells. Feats and abilities with spell focus as a prerequisite apply to tormenting spells just as if they were part of the school chosen for spell focus.

Unstable Affliction (Su): The damage die of the warlock’s affliction manifestation is increased to d8s. A warlock must be at least 6th level before selecting this blessing.

Incarnation

Once per day as a standard action, the warlock may become an infernal incarnation for a number of minutes equal to the warlock’s Intelligence modifier. Their type changes to outsider (devil, evil, extraplanar, lawful). While an infernal incarnation, the duration of each tormenting spell they cast and hex they use is increased by 1. Additionally, the warlock may use life tap by sacrificing one minute of their infernal incarnation instead of lowering thier maximum hit points. Using life tap this way always costs one minute of the incarnation duration regardless of the spell’s level. Finally, the DC to save against an infernal incarnation’s spells and hexes is increased by 2.
