Mentorship Ability

Apprentices who study a mentor’s rogue class levels gains the rogue‘s sneak attack class feature. When determining the damage of the apprentice’s sneak attack, the apprentice’s effective rogue level is equal to half his apprentice level (minimum 1). This ability is the same whether the apprentice’s mentor was a rogue or unchained rogue.

Advanced Mentorship Ability

Apprentices who study a mentor’s rogue class levels and chooses rogue for their advanced mentorship ability for the day gains the rogue‘s rogue talents class feature. The apprentice gains one rogue talent for every three apprentice levels he possesses. These rogue talents must be rogue talents possessed by his mentor. The apprentice must meet all prerequisites for his chosen rogue talents but the apprentice’s effective rogue level is equal to his apprentice level for the purpose of meeting the prerequisites of the rogue talents. This ability is the same whether the apprentice’s mentor was a rogue or unchained rogue.

Cooperation Power

Key ability: Dexterity or Charisma

Apprentices who study a mentor’s rogue class levels and chooses rogue for their cooperation power may spend a cooperation point as an immediate action before he or an adjacent ally attempts a reflex saving throw. If he does that creature gains the rogue‘s evasion class feature until the beginning of the apprentice’s next turn. He must choose to do this before the roll is made.

FAQ

What if the mentor is a ninja?

Ninja mentors work much in the same way rogue mentors do. When selecting which of their mentor’s rogue talents to gain, they instead choose an equal number of their mentor’s ninja tricks to gain. In place of the normal rogue cooperation power, apprentices who study a mentor’s ninja class levels and chooses ninja for their cooperation power may spend a cooperation point as a swift action, to make one additional attack at his highest attack bonus when making a full attack, or increase his speed by 20 feet for 1 round, or give himself a +4 insight bonus on Stealth checks for 1 round. Choosing this cooperation power counts as gaining the ki pool class feature for the purposes of the apprentice’s approximate expertise class feature but you must have the ninja cooperation power to benefit from a feat whose prerequisites were met in this manner.
