Martial Analyst

The combination of raw power and scientific discovery is a rare one, but martial analysts manage to mix both into the sweetest of sciences. Unorthodox competitors, martial analysts know that the only thing that they can rely upon is their fist, doing their best to make their attacks as explosive as possible.

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies

Martial analysts are proficient with all simple weapons and light armor but not shields.

This alters the alchemist’s weapon and armor proficiency but does not stop them from selecting the combat scientist archetype.

Educated Fist (Ex)

The martial analyst gains the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, dealing damage equal to a monk of their class level. In addition, the martial analyst gains the Stunning Fist feat, although they use their Intelligence in place of their Wisdom to determine its saving throw and is treated as a monk for how often they can use it. A martial analyst also can spend 1 point of quintessence to use their Stunning Fist feat.

This ability replaces throw anything.

Erudite Defense (Ex)

At 1st level, the martial analyst gains a bonus to their armor class equal to their Intelligence modifier while wearing light or no armor and not carrying a shield. In addition, a martial analyst gains a +1 bonus to AC and CMD at 4th level. This bonus increases by 1 for every four alchemist levels thereafter, up to a maximum of +5 at 20th level. These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the alchemist is flat-footed. They lose these bonuses when they are immobilized or helpless, when they wear any armor heavier than light, when they carry a shield, or when they carry a medium or heavy load.

This bonus cannot exceed the martial analyst’s class level.

This ability replaces poison resistance +2 and poison resistance +6.

Power Gauntlet (Ex)

At 2nd level, the martial analyst gains the ability to create a unique alchemical gauntlet known as a power gauntlet, gaining proficiency with this weapon. No other creature is proficient in its use and treats it as a gauntlet. This unique item is treated as a masterwork alchemical gauntlet; however, it deals damage equal to the martial analyst’s unarmed damage. This gauntlet can be enhanced as a normal item, and the martial analyst can do so by sacrificing gold or valuable items equal to the cost of the enhancement and spending 1 day in study, successfully enhancing her weapon without fail. If the gauntlet is destroyed, the martial analyst can spend 1 day and gp equal to her level x 50 to create a new one.

A power gauntlet also has a unique reservoir that can be filled as a move action, allowing it to be filled with a liquid or powdered alchemical item (including a toxin); the alchemical item takes full effect on the next creature struck by the weapon, but does not splash, spread, affect additional targets, or benefit from any other effects that specifically affect splash weapons.

Any extra damage added is not doubled on a critical hit. At 6th level and every six levels afterwards, the martial analyst can add an additional reservoir to their power gauntlet, allowing them to store an additional alchemical item. At 6th level, this reservoir can be filled as a swift action.

This ability replaces alchemical weapon, poison resistance +4, and poison immunity.

Studied Quintessence (Ex)

At 4th level, whenever a martial analyst is under the effects of their quintessence surge, if they deal damage with an alchemical item using their power gauntlet, they can reroll any damage dice from that alchemical item if they come up as a 1 or 2. The martial analyst must accept the result of the reroll, even if it would be lower.

This ability alters quintessence surge.

Bomb Knuckle (Ex)

At 5th level, the martial analyst’s gauntlet gains an additional reservoir which can only be filled with a bomb as a free action once per turn (which remains active, even if the martial analyst does not have the delayed detonation discovery), although they cannot apply a [shape] discovery to a bomb placed in that reservoir, and it does not deal splash damage. When the martial analyst uses an attack action to attack, they can detonate this bomb as a part of a successful attack. Any creature damaged by this bomb is treated as though they took a direct hit from that bomb for the purpose of its effects.

This ability replaces multi bomb.

Full metal fist (Ex)

At 5th level, the martial analyst’s power gauntlet is treated as all metals for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

This ability replaces alchemical study, but the martial analyst can take Skill Unlock: Craft (alchemy) as a discovery; this does not count as taking the Signature Skillpu feat.

Dynamite Punch (Ex)

At 15th level, the martial analyst’s power gauntlet gains an additional bomb reservoir (both of which can be filled with the same free action) and may detonate both bombs during a single attack action.

This ability replaces flurry bomb.
