The ghoul’s touch tampers with the target’s sanity.

Requirement: Ghoul HD 7.

Effect: The target is confused for 1 round per Hit Die the ghoul has. A successful Will saving throw negates this effect.

Improved Loss

The target also suffers 1d4 Intelligence damage. A creature whose intelligence is reduced to 0 by this effect is permanently confused, as per insanity, until it recovers at least 1 point of Intelligence. A successful saving throw halves the Intelligence damage and reduces the confusion to 1 round, instead of negating it.

Gain and Loss

If the target fails its saving throw against this effect, the ghoul gains a +4 competence bonus to all Intelligence-based skill checks and to Will saves against mind-affecting effects for 10 minutes.
