Demon, Balor Lord Drozuum

The tall demon grips his barbed longsword and cracks a multihued whip in anticipation. His robes shimmer with scintillating patterns, which are reflected as he unfurls his smooth leather wings.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Divine Investment (Sp)

Drozuum’s imbue with spell ability spell-like ability allows his subjects to cast sorcerer spells rather than cleric spells. Spells imparted to his subjects can be from any arcane school.

Flaming Body (Su)

Drozuum’s body is covered in dancing flames. Anyone striking a him with a natural weapon or unarmed strike takes 1d6 points of fire damage. A creature that grapples a Drozuum or is grappled by him takes 6d6 points of fire damage each round the grapple persists.

Spell Betrayal (Su)

Magic operates inconsistently in Drozuum’s presence. Any spell that fails to penetrate Drozuum’s spell resistance may be reflected back on the caster with full effects. If the caster level check to penetrate the demon’s spell resistance fails by 5 or more, the spell is reflected. If the check fails by 4 or less, the spell is simply wasted. This ability otherwise functions as spell turning.

Spellcasting

Drozuum casts spells as a 24th level sorcerer, though he does not gain a bloodline or other sorcerer class features.

Unholy Nimbus (Su)

Three times per day as a free action Drozuum can create a nimbus of sickening writhing color to play around his body. One round later, the light bursts in a 60-foot radius. Any non-demon must succeed on a DC 37 Will save or be dazed for 1d10 rounds as visions of madness hound it. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Vorpal Strike (Su)

Any slashing weapon Drozuum wields gains the vorpal weapon quality. Weapons retain this quality for one hour after he releases the weapon, but after this the weapon reverts to its standard magical qualities, if any.

ECOLOGY

Environment any (the Abyss)
Organization solitary
Treasure triple (+1 unholy longsword, +1 flaming whip, other treasure)

Drozuum the Demon Warlock considers himself the fledgling god of chaos magic. The balor lord rules half a realm in the Abyss, characterized by constant change and maddening images. Drozuum schemes from the heart of his Ruined Library an ancient unsorted repository of fragmented arcane knowledge. Mortal cultists who worship him speak of wisdom in the disorganized methods of their fiendish master. They gather to discuss trivial and obscure subjects, and turn on those members who pursue mastery of any single goal. Some cults capture and sacrifice noted experts in an academic field, hoping to receive fell insight from the Demon Warlock himself.

Drozuum’s arrogance does not permit him to assume other forms, but he gains pleasure from experimenting with the shapes of others. He enjoys turning living creatures into statuary or puddles of water, and transforming his allies into unique monsters.
