The preferred protein is cut to the bone and seasoned with all excess fat removed. It is then steamed in a mixture of ginger juice, minced garlic, pepper, salt, scallions, sesame oil, soy sauce, and sugar. The finished component is then served with jujube, ginkgo nuts, carrots, and pine nuts. Jjim is usually beef (galbi-jjim), but other variations include chicken(andong), fish (saengseon), or other proteins, and the name is changed accordingly.

When consumed, jjim grants a +1 morale bonus per 2 levels on saving throws against death and disease effects for the duration.

Additional ingredients increase the serving size by +1.
