DESCRIPTION

Paella is one of the best and most complex rice dishes because of the specific way in which it’s made. If completed with no interruptions, it leaves 1 serving of toasted rice at the bottom of the culinarian’s pot called the socarrat. The ingredients cooked in and with the rice can vary, but more traditionally include bay leaf, garlic, parsley, saffron, salt, and tomato, as well as the choice of meat (often a combination of chicken and fish).

When consumed during combat, paella grants one of the following abilities based on the flavor profiles used, chosen by the consumer. This lasts until combat ends, the consumer willingly leaves the area, or the consumer chooses to stop participating in combat directly. Consuming another serving overrides the current benefit, but if the socarrat is also consumed, it grants a second choice for the duration.

  • Bitter or Sour: The consumer gains a +5 morale bonus on all weapon damage rolls.
  • Salty: The consumer gains a +5 morale bonus on concentration checks and caster level checks made to overcome a target’s spell resistance.
  • Spicy: The consumer’s weapons count as adamantine, magic, and one alignment type (chaoticevilgood, or lawful) of its choice for the purposes of bypassing Damage Reduction. The alignment type selected must match one of the consumer’s alignments. If the consumer is neutral, it does not receive that benefit.
  • Texture: The consumer gains a +3 morale bonus on all attack rolls. This bonus is doubled on all attack rolls made to confirm critical hits.
  • Umami: The consumer gains fast healing 3. This causes the consumer to heal 3 points of damage each round as long as it remains alive.

Additional ingredients increase the serving size by +1.
