Heavier armors are more difficult to fight against for creatures. A creature wearing medium armor takes a -1 penalty on its saving throw, whereas a creature in heavy armor takes a -2 penalty. A creature wearing armor he is not proficient in is significantly hindered, applying the armor’s Armor Check Penalty to his saving throw against restricting armor.Creatures wearing non-corporeal armor, such as that provided by mage armor or instant armor, are not affected by restricting armor. Shields do not count as armor for the purpose of this spell.
