Sand Form (Su) When performing a move, double move, or run action, or when moving as part of a charge, an eater of years becomes an animate pile of sand. This occurs as soon as the eater of years begins its movement and lasts until the eater of years concludes its movement. For that duration, the eater of years is immune to precision damage and critical hits. This is a tranmutation effect.
Shorten Life (Su) When a living creature takes Constitution damage from the blood drain attack of an eater of years, the damaged creature is exposed to the curse of shortened life. Curse of Shortened Life:save Will DC 16; onset 1 year; frequency 1/year; effect 1 point of Constitution drain that cannot be removed by any means until the curse of shortened life is removed; cure –. The save DC is Charisma-based, and includes a +4 racial bonus.
Parasites able to drain years off the end of a victim’s life, the creatures known as eaters of years prey upon humanoids on the fringes of society. Though able to survive by consuming blood alone, eaters of years are also nourished by the curse of shortened life which their feeding inflicts upon their victims. As a result, eaters of years only kill victims that fight back. Weaker victims who don’t pose a serious threat to an eater of years are fed upon only briefly and thereafter allowed to live. The eater of years can then draw ongoing nourishment from the survivors of its attack.
