Bugganes are burrowing cousins of common ogres. Compared to other ogres, bugganes are more feral, having fur, claws, and horns. Bugganes don’t use their knobby horns in combat, but frequently rend their opponents with their sharp claws. Bugganes can also use their claws to burrow through soft earth at surprising speeds.

Bugganes are fond of ambush tactics, using camouflage and burrows to hide along roads through hills and mountains, leaping out to strike once unwitting travelers draw near. Once combat is engaged, bugganes forgo additional attempts at stealth and trickery, instead relying upon brute strength. If outmatched, bugganes attempt to flee, making full use of their burrowing capabilities.

A common buggane is 12 feet tall and weighs 500 pounds. A mountain buggane is 20 feet tall and weighs 4,000 pounds. The two species rarely interact, and tend to distrust one another.
