Order of the Sun

Undead are a scourge upon the land, a twisted mockery of life, and it falls to the knights of the Order of the Sun to stand against them. They protect the innocents of the world from the blight of unlife.

Like the order of the cold iron cavalier, the order of the sun cavalier can be a solemn fellow. Though he may be passionate and pure of heart, the line of work he does can slowly wear at any mortal’s exuberance.

Edicts: The cavalier must not suffer an undead creature to exist. If it is not in his power to destroy it himself, he must gain the aid of those who can destroy it. He must protect the innocent and weak from undead at all costs, even that of his own life.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the sun cavalier issues a challenge, the target of his challenge takes a -1 penalty on attack rolls for 1 round after being damaged by the cavalier. This penalty increases by 1 for every 4 levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the sun cavalier adds Knowledge (Religion) and Perception to his list of class skills. An order of the sun cavalier can make Knowledge (Religion) checks untrained; if he has ranks in the skill, he gains a bonus equal to his level on Knowledge (Religion) checks regarding undead.

Order Abilities: A cavalier belonging to the order of the sun gains the following abilities as he increases in level.

Turn Undead

At 2nd level, the cavalier gains an extraordinary ability very similar to a holy cleric’s ability to turn the undead, using his sheer force of will. As a standard action a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier, the cavalier may turn undead within 30 feet. Undead receive a Will save to negate the effect. The DC for this Will save is equal to 10 + 1/2 his cavalier level + his Charisma modifier. Undead that fail their saves flee as if panicked for 1 minute. Intelligent undead receive a new saving throw each minute to end the effect.

Enduring Life

At 8th level, the cavalier gains a bonus to saving throws against death effects equal to his Charisma modifier (minimum 1).

Sever the Profane

At 15th level, whenever the cavalier challenges a creature capable of channeling negative energy, the target must make a Will save (DC = 10 + the cavalier’s level + his Charisma modifier) or be unable to channel negative energy for the duration of the challenge.
