Order of the Black Rose

A cavalier belonging to this order is wicked and fearsome indeed, for he serves necromancers and all those who consort with the undead. He is often found leading their unholy armies into battle to destroy all that is good and pure in the world, and usually is given an undead mount.

Only the most foul of men join this dark order. Though they do not tap into the necromantic energies of their lords, they are more than willing to use the forces granted to them. A dark aura permeates from their pale skin.

Edicts: The cavalier must serve the cause of spreading undeath across the land. He must guard and protect his necromancer masters and lead their undead armies to victory or destruction.

Challenge: Whenever an order of the black rose cavalier issues a challenge, his target takes a -1 penalty to AC against melee attacks for 1 round after the cavalier successfully damages the target. This penalty increases by 1 for every 4 levels the cavalier possesses.

Skills: An order of the black rose cavalier adds Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (religion) to his list of class skills. An order of the black rose cavalier can make Knowledge (religion) checks untrained; if he has ranks in the skill, he gains a bonus equal to his level on Knowledge (religion) checks regarding undead.

Order Abilities: A cavalier belonging to the order of the black rose gains the following abilities as he increases in level.

Command Undead (Ex)

At 2nd level, the cavalier gains an extraordinary ability very similar to a necromancer’s ability to command the undead, using his sheer force of will. As a standard action a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier, the cavalier may command undead within 30 feet. Undead receive a Will save to negate the effect. The DC for this Will save is equal to 10 + 1/2 his cavalier level + his Charisma modifier. Undead that fail their saves fall under his control, obeying his commands to the best of their ability, as if under the effects of control undead. Intelligent undead receive a new saving throw each day to resist his command. He can control any number of undead, so long as their total Hit Dice do not exceed his cavalier level. If an undead creature is under the control of another creature, he must make an opposed Charisma check whenever their orders conflict.

Necromantic Enhancement (Ex)

At 8th level, the cavalier is healed by negative energy and harmed by positive energy as if he were an undead creature.

Sever the Divine (Ex)

At 15th level, whenever the cavalier challenges a creature capable of channeling positive energy, the target must make a Will save (DC = 10 + the cavalier’s level + his Charisma modifier) or be unable to channel positive energy for the duration of the challenge.
